Straight From My Art – Bride Zentangle

A few months back there was a trend of bridal zentangles on Pinterest. With the intricate jewellery that an Indian bride wears, it is the perfect medium to get into a detailed design of repetitive patterns.

I came across this beautiful bride sketch on Pinterest. However I wanted to make the bride way more colourful rather than go with the black design of the original.

I came up with this version initially with the bride decked out in a multi colour ornate blouse and a pale yellow saree.

However when I was done, I felt the yellow didn’t quite give a bridal effect. It somehow did not sit right with me and I could not leave it at this.

I redid the yellow bits and this was the final version:

The red just made the whole drawing “pop” and I could finally see a bride on paper.

Thoroughly enjoyed drawing the jewellery and saree border detail. I also designed the multi colour blouse inspired by one of my own saree blouses. Absolutely enjoyed drawing this one!

Until next time!
