My Kidney Beans turns Two!

Two years ago I found out I liked to string words together and see where they took me. And they took me to wonderful, unexpected places!

mykidneybeans was born.

A lot of thought went into the name and not too many know how I finally landed upon this name which just spoke to me and said all I wanted to say.

But that’s a story for another day.

More than anything else, it has been one humbling learning experience.

I have learnt that Appa is my biggest source of inspiration and stories around him form my best work.

I’ve learnt my fictional stories can come from the simplest of life experiences. One things leads to another, a thought becomes a string of thoughts and suddenly, a story forms in my head, complete with cast, plot and climax.

I’ve learnt I too operate on the 80-20 principle. 80% of my work happens in my subconscious. The actual writing takes up about 20%.

I’ve learnt that when I am truly moved by something, my heart literally pours out the words without even trying.

I’ve learnt my words have the power to move my readers to tears. It is a realisation that humbles and awes me at the same time.

I’ve learnt that fellow writers and bloggers are co-passengers on this amazing flight of fancy. We get each other. We pull each other out of writers blocks. We empathise.

I’ve learnt that my family and friends actually take time out to read what I have to say. And I love them for it.

But most of all… I’ve learnt that I will keep on learning.
