Straight From My Art – Workshop 7 – Madhubani Birds

After the beautiful Madhubani we attempted of the decoratd elephant, I found a beautiful artwork in the same Madhubani style of two birds gazing adoringly at each other, surrounded by the foliage from a tree on Pinterest and we decided to try our hand at reproducing this one in our next art workshop.

We started by creating a pencil sketch of the original:

We were too eager to finish this one and each one of us worked over the week to colour it and give it our individual creative touch.

My sister Bala used gel pens and coloured her work. She used shades of pink, orange and green predominantly to come up with this bright version.

My sister Lakshmi used watercolours and a more darker combiination of colours to come up with this rustic version.

This is my version. I used acrylic paint pens and an assortment of colours.

As I upload these versions, I realise we all added a special touch on the detail for the birds’ wings. Loving the different styles and approaches coming into our work and how comfortable my sisters now are to just do a basic sketch together and work on it on their own from that point.

Until next time!
